All better!

Thanks for all the get well wishes.  I am all better!!  This morning I woke up with a smile (as per my usual) and no fever!  I was excited for my first visit with my cousins from South Africa, Amir and Ellen!  And uncle Ben came as well, and we all went out to lunch (I napped, of course).  It was a great time!

All better and fever free, thanks!!

Fun with food!

Yesterday, I had my first try of mushy peas!  All I can say is that the jury is still out on that one!  And today, I fed myself by holding my own bottle -- both at daycare and at home!  And, I drank formula for the first time since I was very little and still in the hospital (for the first 3 days I was born)!  Mommy was relieved that the transition was so easy, and especially because I was still hungry after she fed me, so she was glad there was something to feed to me!  I am definitely going through a growth spurt!

But, in bad news, I had a bit of a fever today.  Nothing crazy, and I was still in my usual good spirits and was quite cheerful, but I had a fever of 101.  Hopefully, I will get better soon, or else I will have to stay home from daycare, and I love daycare!!!

Enjoy the pictures!

Mommy and me over the weekend.

First try of peas.

Yum?

Me and Cordt, who visited from Brooklyn over the weekend.  He is a month older than me.

Here, we are shaking hands!

Me, playing with oranges.

I am drooling, just thinking about eating them!  But, I can't yet, such a bummer!!

But, I can try!!!

Yay, orange!!!
I'll be juggling them soon!  I love oranges!!!

This is me, unhappy, because daddy was taking away my orange!!!
I ate rice cereal at daycare today.  (They have extra big bibs there, I wonder why?)

Today, I made a gingerbread cookie man at daycare!
I worked really diligently at it.

Voila!!

I love daycare!!!!!!!

I love love love daycare!!  I get to do art and eat rice cereal and nap.  And the teachers are nice.  'Nuf said.

This is me, last week, making a dinosaur out of Playdoh (with a little help from one of my teachers).
This is me, quite pleased with my handiwork.  (My friend Chiara is looking on from the background!!)

Here is the green dinosaur I painted last week!

Today, we got to mix paints to paint a sun.  I was first given that splotch of paint you see in the center there.
(And yes, I may have been a little sleepy when we first started.)
Note the progression of my artistic process, i.e., the movement of the paint.
Just checking if my teacher, Sandra, was still keeping an eye on me.  And then.....
Splat!!!!

No cameras please, I'm concentrating on my artwork and inspiration!
Heh.  Ok, if you insist.
Focused on the task at hand.  :)

Big step forward!

Today, I stood in my crib, while holding on to the railings, for several seconds!  In fact, I probably would have stood for a lot longer except that mommy got so excited to see me do it, she was in complete disbelief, and after I had been standing for several seconds, she just picked me up because she just couldn't believe that I could have stood longer (but I could have if she had just given me a chance)!  I am not even 6 months old yet, and I'm already standing!  I am so advanced!!!!!!!!  Ok, that is all.

Latest developments.

I know, you can't believe that I will have posted 3 blog posts in just a matter of 3 days!!  But, it is true.  Today, I just wanted to say that I figured out how to jump/bounce on my own in the jumperoo.  And that as of yesterday, I can stand for a few seconds in my crib by holding the railing, and I can sit upright without any support for a few seconds (although I still prefer reaching forward, which then causes me to completely bend over).  Oh, and I am drooling like mad, and have a runny nose, which I hate to have wiped.  That is all.

My first car!!

Beep beep!!  Ready to ride!!
I am so very excited to announce that I got my very first car today!!  Ok, so it is really mommy and daddy's car, but I will be chauffeured in it from now on, so it might as well be my car!!  It's just that I have to wait about 15 1/2 years before I may be able to operate it (legally, at least), but it's never too early to start practicing.  (See evidence on right.)  We picked the car up this evening, after attending my third birthday party (having attended my first when I was just 2 weeks old!).  Even though I had such a long day, I was still so sweet and good natured, and only started screaming at the very end, when the car was finally pulling out of the dealer's garage (but I quieted down as usual, almost immediately once mommy started driving).  Less than 10 minutes later, we were pulling into the garage in the building next to ours, and then we were home!  I was quickly bathed and changed, and fed, and then I fell asleep almost immediately thereafter with no fussing.  Boy, I was pooped!!  Anyhow, I will post some pictures of the day so you can share in the excitement!  xoxo.

I'm a natural!!  (I have a tight grip on the wheel, in case you're wondering.)

Laura, the birthday girl!!  She is 1 today!!

I don't know why but she was very unhappy for it being her birthday and all!!  (The cake was delicious, by the way!)

I was my usual happy and good-natured self at the party.  I didn't cry or fuss at all, and everyone cooed over me and
over my sunny disposition!  I didn't cry at all when held by people I had only met for the first time, like uncle Justin!

I love eating my feet!

This is Elinor, Laura's cousin, with her grandma.  She was so advanced, and was walking and climbing and talking!
Elinor is 16 months old!

I love daycare!

Me, with my classmates Chiara (1 yo, in red) and Allison (8 mo, in white)
during our outing today!!  I was mesmerized by the sights, as you can see.
So, I just finished up my first full week at daycare (Tuesday through Friday), and I got this daycare thing in the bag!  I adjusted without so much as a peep to being in daycare!  I love my new classmates and the teachers.  When mommy and daddy picked me up tonight for the weekend, I couldn't stop smiling at Sandra and Ivette, two of my teachers.  Today in daycare, I went out for my first walk with my new friends.  We were pushed in a baby buggy together down Fifth and Sixth Avenues, and had to fight through the throngs of tourists -- ugh, they all mill about so slowly!!  My daycare is right in the heart of things, directly across the famous Rockefeller Center tree, and right next to Radio City Music Hall, so it is absolute madness these days!  But, I am a New Yorker after all, so I am used to the crowds.  And earlier this week, we did fingerpainting, and I got to squish some green paint in my fingers and did some fingerpainting (of a dinosaur, no less)!  Mommy is still trying to track down my work product, so stay tuned!

My teacher, Sandra, thinks that I am teething, so I was a bit grouchy earlier this week, and have been biting a lot, even during feedings (much to mommy's consternation).  She told mommy and daddy that I might get a diaper rash over the next few days and maybe a low fever, but hopefully that my new teeth will come in soon!  So exciting!!

Needless to say, I did a lot this week, and learned a lot, and made lots of new friends!  Today was my classmate, Chiara's first birthday, and her mommy and daddy (and grandparents) came and dropped off a goodies bag for everyone in class, and in the goodie bag, was a new book -- Goodnight, New York!  I was very excited to get the book (but maybe not as excited as mommy, who was getting awfully tired of reading Goodnight Moon).  And, I have been eating well (2 bottles a day, 4-5 ounces each time, plus a daily serving of rice cereal, which I just love love love), and napping well too (2-3 naps a day, for 1 to 1.5 hours each time) at daycare.  Plus, I sleep well at night (except for the few times the last few nights when I have ended up rolled onto my stomach in the middle of the night, which makes me very upset and wakes me up, because I don't know how to get back on my back, and I can't sleep on my belly!!! so I usually yelp, and daddy or mommy have to come to flip me back over), going down every night without a fight at between 730-8, and then not waking up until the morning!!  One of the only downsides of daycare is that I don't get to sleep in, as mommy always has to wake me up at 830 in the morning to eat and get dressed for daycare!  But, I guess I will get used to it soon enough.  I am looking forward to my next day at daycare, which will be on Tuesday, since mommy gets Mondays off for the time being.  Yay, it will be fun to have the whole weekend to play with mommy and daddy!

Daycare!

First day at daycare.  They even had a welcome sign for me!
I started daycare (on a trial run) last Thursday.  Mommy took me in for half days on Thursday and on Friday, and I did great!  I did not cry when I was handed off to the teachers, and on the first day, I napped on my own and drank 5 ounces of milk from a bottle fed to me by one of the teachers at daycare!  And on Friday, I took 2 naps on my own, and drank another 5 ounces of milk from a bottle, and would have drank a second bottle of milk if mommy and daddy had not shown up right when I was about to eat, and so I decided I didn't want the bottle after all since mommy was around!!  There are lots of new friends for me to meet at daycare -- they are all quite friendly and most of them are very advanced, which means I have a lot of catching up to do!!  They are (mostly) all crawling around and tottering/walking and/or able to stand while holding onto a ledge, and have teeth and are eating crunchy treats!!  I can't wait to do all those things!  Right now, I am just on the verge of sitting upright by myself (mommy thinks), but hope I will get there soon!  Anyhow, I will officially start full-time at daycare tomorrow, when mommy heads back to work, so I hope I can keep up the good work!  Will keep you posted!  In the meantime, enjoy the new pictures of my various recent adventures!

All bundled up and ready to head to day 2 of daycare!

In my new highchair!  Thanks grandma Hong and grandpa Jim!!

Thankful for Thanksgiving!

Me, with uncle Ben (ha, I know!!) in Boston.
I had stranger anxiety with a lot of people over the
weekend, but for some reason, not with him!!
I love uncle Ben!!!
So I went to Boston and back, and I made it!  Ok, just barely, as the first day I was there, I subsisted on only 11 hours of sleep for the entire day (and that is mostly because I slept straight all morning until 8am, when I was woken up to be taken to the train station) and was super grouchy!  I think that was the least sleep I have ever gotten since being born!!  But, it was my first time on the train, and my first Thanksgiving, and I really didn't want to miss a thing!  So, I refused to go to sleep until I pretty much had to crash.  But even then, I woke up that night every 90 minutes, and would refuse to go back to sleep for an hour or two in between those fits of sleep at night.  Thankfully, I was in grandma Paula and grandpa Aubrey's house in Boston, and it is such a big house that I didn't wake anyone else up!  Except for daddy of course, who slept on the couch next to my portable crib, and stayed with me throughout the night, giving me a shoulder to cry on!  Thanks daddy!!

It was a bit of a rough trip for me, but I am glad to have spent more time with the family.  I have been sleeping like mad since getting home last night -- I slept for 11 1/2 hours straight last night as I was happy to be home in my own bed!  Anyhow, I have lots to share, but I will do it through pictures.

Also, just a warning, but I likely won't be blogging as much pretty soon because mommy will be headed back to work, starting next week!  I mean, I can type but I need someone's help to reach the keyboard (I'm still too short ok??).  But, I will still make an effort to post pictures whenever I can, but we will see how it will work out!

Me, with my cousin Lila who lives in Boston!  She is 7 months older than me,
but we still have lots in common, like chewing on things!!
With uncle Ben and aunt Laura!
With grandma Paula on my 5 month birthday!!
Ack!!
I think my expression says it all.
Reading People magazine with grandma Paula.
I think I like this Bradley Cooper character.
Yes, I think I *REALLY* like Bradley Cooper.
And here is a video of me from today, playing with daddy!
